hyacinthus was a beautiful young man who became the lover of the god apollo. zephyrus, the west wind, got jelaous of their love and made apollo’s discus to go off track; it struck hyacinthus in the head, killing him instantly.
when hyacinth died, apollo did not allow hades to claim him; rather, he made a flower, the hyacinth, from his spilled blood.
